Session Information
Needling
This is where very fine needles are inserted into acupuncture points
on the body. Sometimes the needles are manipulated by hand.
Most people associate acupuncture with this form of treatment.
Moxa or Moxibustion
Moxa is a Chinese herb which is burned and held close to acupuncture
points to warm the point. Moxa is sometimes added to the top of the
acupuncture needle. This can be used with or without needling.
Laser Acupuncture
A small laser light is used to stimulate acupuncture points instead
of using needles. No pain is felt during laser treatment.
Cupping or Fire Cupping
Cupping is performed with a glass cup which is heated with a flame to
create a vacuum in the cup. The glass cup is placed flush against the
patients skin. As the air cools in the cup a vacuum is created which
pulls on the skin causing an acupressure effect. The skin will be marked
with ring shapes after a cupping treatment.
Auricular or Ear Acupuncture
Ear seeds are small seeds from the Vaccaria plant. They are held in
place by adhesive tape. These allow pressure to be applied to the points
for a few days or up to one week.
